GREG'S BLOG

Written: January 25, 2009

This is my first official blog, and there will be anymore to come. Ill try to keep this one somewhat short.
I plan to talk about a variety of different things on here, my own observations and thoughts, destruction of
ecosystems and the rebuilding efforts, activities in government that affect the environment, thing you
can do to help out, and the list go on. Our blogs are our own thoughts and not that of the thoughts of extinctearth.

So I’m 23 years old and just moved to a new town, St. Cloud, Mn, so I decided to head downtown to check out
the bar scene with my brother-in law. We had a good time, had a few drinks, checked out a couple bars, and saw a
few bands. But as it always is, my mind was racing and trying to integrate my immediate environment, in this case
the “bar”, with the rest of the world in whole. Every bar we went to had a tremendous amount of T.V.’s in every direction.
There were multiple T.V.’s on every wall, which nobody was really paying attention too. A few bars had bands play while 15
T.V’s were on in the background, really? So you pay a cover charge to see a band, but yet there is T.V. to watch. I wonder
how much electricity would be saved if the majority of the T.V’s were taken out of the bars in this nation. Maybe it’s just
me but I like to have conversations with people or if there is live music, actually WATCH the band. I guess what I’m saying
is what is the need for all the T.V’s, there just wasting energy. I’m not saying T.V.’s are bad, but why that many, its not
needed. I use this as an example of many small things that are happening that affect the world in a whole. Everything is
integrated in some form, we need to change the way we do things in everyday living. Yeah we won’t be perfect, and we won’t
be completely energy independent or not impact the earth in some way, but we can change the extent of the damage and proliferate
our human existence into the future.

Thank you for reading my first blog and I really look forward in writing many more in the future. And I would like to ask any
of the visitors of extinctearth, to contact us and interact with others on the fourm. It could be about anything, an idea,
something you would like to see on the site or fixed, ways you would like to contribute and ideas. We want this to be about
everybody, this is not our site it’s your site. Though your activity and input on extinctearth, WE can make a difference!!
